On July 23rd WATM will be hosting a PEPPERPALOOZA festival at the market (3:30-6:30) to celebrate all the colors, shapes, sizes, flavors, and heat levels of the mighty pepper! It's going to be a great event for the whole family!

As part of the PEPPERPALOOZA Festival WATM is having a big raffle as a fundraiser for the market. Many of your favorite WATM vendors have contributed prizes and there will be at least 5 opportunities to win prize packages all valuing over $50!
HOW IT WORKS:
-- Tickets are $5 per ticket, $12 for 3 tickets, or $20 for 5 tickets
-- There will be 5 different prize packages with an assortment of WATM goods.
-- Winners will get a punch card and be able to redeem their prizes at their convenience.
-- Winners will be announced on 7/24 and contacted about redeeming their prize.
-- All proceeds go toward the growth of the market which is a state non-profit and relies heavily on the support of the community.

4:00PM -- Ristra Making Demonstration
Watch a traditional Ristra being made. Ristras are a traditional Spanish way of drying and storing peppers.
5:00- 5:45PM -- Hot Pepper Eating Contest
Sign up at the information tent and eat your way up the Scoville Scale. Registration is FREE. Milk and bread will be available when you can no longer take the heat. The winner will get $25 in WATM tokens, a WATM t-shirt, and serious bragging rights.
*If more than one person is able to chew and swallow one bite of each pepper, then a top prize winner will be picked out of a hat.
-- Hot Sauce Tasting
Pay $3 for a bowl of corn chips and get to taste an assortment of local hot sauces. That money also buys you a raffle ticket and you'll be entered to win a bottle of all the hot sauces in the tasting!
-- Talk to a Pepper Expert
A local pepper expert will be answering all of your pepper questions from propagation and growing, to cultural significance and culinary uses through history. PLUS! We'll be giving out *free* pepper recipe cards!
-- Bell Pepper Tasting for Kids
Taste the rainbow of bell peppers and find your favorite color in the kids tent.
-- Bell Pepper Painting for Kids
Use the pepper as paint brush or make a pepper print painting. Get crazy and creative with crafts in the kids tent.
-- Face Painting for kids of all ages
Professional Face Painter, Katy Jo, will be there transforming faces into fairies and super heros
-- Pepper Roasting
Visit Joe Brittain of Brittain Farms and have him roast your peppers. We love Joe because he's the only person crazy enough to stand near a fire in the middle of July.
