BURTON Street

COMMUNITY

FUNDRAISER

As the city of Asheville makes promises for reparations, we want to do our part by putting money directly in the hands of our Black neighbors.

Our goal is to raise a minimum of $1,000 that we can give to folks in the Burton Street Community, a historically Black neighborhood in West Asheville

We always planned on doing a fundraiser this year. Originally the idea was to raise money for the market since we’re losing money due to COVID-19 related issues. But after all that we’ve experienced in the past several months, it feels way more important to put money back into our community than it does to put money back into our bank account.

Every dollar you donate will work twice.  First, the money goes to one of our hard-working neighbors in the form of 'WATM Bucks'.  They will be distributed, as needed, by DeWayne who runs the Burton Street Peace Garden.  Our neighbors can then use the 'Bucks' to buy local food at the market.  That same dollar then lands in the pocket of one of our vendors.

It’s simple.

1) You donate

2) We distribute

3) Neighbors benefit

4) Vendors profit
